If you've looked at our Moonsticks and thought "that's a pricier joint, what's the deal" — fair, because at a glance it looks like any other pre-roll. It isn't one. A Moonstick is flower that's been coated in concentrate and rolled in kief before it's ever lit, which is a genuinely different product from a joint rolled with plain ground bud. The name and the idea both trace back to "moon rocks" — the cannabis world's original bud-dipped-in-oil-and-kief creation.
Where does the idea come from?
Moon rocks, as a named product, came out of a collaboration between Kurupt — the rapper, and later cannabis entrepreneur — and Dr. Zodiak, who launched a branded line together back in 2013. The concept was simple and a little indulgent: take a quality cannabis nugget, coat it in hash oil or concentrate, then roll it in kief, the resinous trichomes that cover cannabis flower. Flower, concentrate, and kief, all in one piece. It caught on because the effect is nothing like ordinary flower.
So why does it hit so much harder?
You're not smoking one thing, you're smoking three layered together. The flower gives you the usual terpene and cannabinoid profile, the concentrate coating adds a concentrated hit of cannabinoids on top of that, and the kief dusting adds yet another layer of pure trichome material. Classic moon rocks, made this way, commonly land upwards of 50% THC — well above the 17-28% range of typical flower. Our Moonstick follows the same basic idea (flower coated in concentrate and rolled in kief) built as a ready pre-roll rather than a loose nugget you'd have to deal with yourself.
Isn't that basically just a strong joint?
Not quite, and this is the part worth knowing before your first one. A traditional DIY moon rock is notoriously awkward to smoke — it's dense, sticky, and hard to keep lit, which is exactly why most guides tell you to break it up carefully and smoke it in a pipe or bong rather than attempting to roll it into a joint at all. A Moonstick sidesteps that problem entirely: it's assembled and rolled properly from the start, so you get the same flower-concentrate-kief combination without wrestling with a gummy, half-lit nugget. That convenience is really the whole point of buying one pre-made rather than building your own at home.
Which one's for you?
We keep it simple — two sizes, same infusion, same idea:
Either way: go slower than you would with a regular joint, especially the first time. The size of the thing in your hand doesn't tell you how strong it is — the coating does.
